Jan 19, 2011 · Maybe what I need to do is use the same router my parents will be using to do the initial setup of the Roku. You said it works when you used your own router/Roku combo. Maybe the problem comes from the Roku checking for the internet whenever you make changes to the network settings (like connecting to a new network).

If not, you'll need a model with an “ethernet port”, which will allow you to run an “ethernet cable” between your modem and your Roku (click here to get a cable if you need one).
